U.S. forces stationed off Vieques range

With U.S. Navy warships looming offshore, protesters waited Tuesday on Puerto Rico's Vieques Island for what seemed an inevitable confrontation over the future of a military bombing range. Carrying about 1,000 Marines, the ships arrived early Monday off the north side of Vieques, located about six miles (9.6 kilometers) southeast of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean.
